About the book
Most iOS interview resources give you the correct answer. The correct answer earns a nod and nothing else. What decides a senior round is the question that comes after it: where does that break, why did you choose it, what happens at ten times the traffic.
This book is built around that gap. On every question that decides a senior round, you get the same question answered at three levels.
What you'll learn
- Answer the same question at candidate, senior, and staff depth
- Spot red-flag phrasing interviewers hear every week
- Prepare follow-ups before the interviewer asks them
- Cover concurrency, architecture, SwiftUI, and offline-first data
- Walk a modern live-coding and take-home loop with eyes open
Three answer levels
What most candidates say. Accurate, complete, and worth no extra credit.
What a senior candidate says. The trade-off named, and a rule for choosing.
What a staff engineer says. The systemic consequence: concurrency, migration cost, what it forces on other teams.
Those questions also carry the red flags that quietly weaken an answer, quoted in the words candidates actually use, and the follow-up an interviewer asks next with the short answer in brackets, so the book works as a self-test.
Contents
Nine chapters, ordered by the level at which questions are actually asked: junior, mid-level, senior, senior in transition, tech lead, mobile architect, engineering manager, delivery, and a final chapter on the live round covering live coding method, take-homes, and how AI assistance is treated in a modern loop.
Coverage in depth
Swift concurrency and the Swift 6 migration, memory management and ARC, SwiftUI state and identity, architecture and module boundaries, Swift semantics and dispatch, mobile system design, testing strategy, and offline-first data.
Currency
Every technical claim is checked against Swift 6.2 and the iOS 26 SDK. Where a behaviour depends on an upcoming feature flag rather than being on by default, the book says so rather than stating it flat.
Who it is for
iOS engineers preparing for a real interview loop, from a first junior round to a staff, architect or engineering manager conversation. It assumes you can already build an app.
Who it is not for
Anyone learning iOS from zero, or anyone who wants definitions to memorise.
